C.A.R.E. is back!

This is a reminder that the “Community Afterschool Relationships in Education” or C.A.R.E. will resume this coming Thursday (Oct. 15) beginning with a meal at 5:30pm!

This meal is free and open to both students and parents/guardians. C.A.R.E. takes place in the downstairs fellowship hall at Union Memorial United Methodist Church (1012 Gate City Blv.) from 5:30-7:30pm. C.A.R.E. is a tutoring opportunity made possible by a partnership between the UNC Greensboro community and the congregation of Union Memorial United Methodist Church. Tutoring is open to 1st graders through adult learners.

All our tutors/volunteers undergo a background check and United Methodist child care policies are enforced. This year we ask parents/students to enter the fellowship hall from the door on High St. Signs will be posted to help you find this door. We ask that you arrive before 5:30pm to register your student(s) for our 2015-2016 program.

If you have any questions, contact Chris at We look forward to seeing you on Thursdays.

C.A.R.E. Is up and running for another year!

C.A.R.E. is up and running every Thursday night from 5:30pm until 7:30pm!

The shorter time allows for more focused tutoring, helping students learn the basics of their common core requirements.

Please arrive 15 minutes early on your first visit, to allow time to fill out paper work.

And don’t forget, both the dinner and the tutoring are completely free!

C.A.R.E. opens it doors for the first time!

Greensboro C.A.R.E. had it’s first family dinner and community tutoring session at Union Memorial UMC, on Thursday February 27th.  A group of about 30 met for dinner, followed by a study session for 13 young students while a parent session was held upstairs.  March 6th will be the next C.A.R.E. with Honey Stir Fry and Rice as the menu.

Thanks to all who attended and volunteered.
